Mere - Stourhead NT - Thorndon Cross, Devon

Friday 17th June - our 55th Wedding Anniversary!

The day began with breakfast and opening our lovely cards in the warm sunshine.

We were just 3 miles from one of our favourite National Trust gardens, so we spent the morning at Stourhead, walking around the lake anitclockwise, then clockwise.  Great being there early with only a handful of other visitors.

Cheers over a cup of tea/coffee in the courtyard with flowers falling off the tree like confetti!

After superb freshly baked pasties at the cafe at the entrance, we set off on the next leg of our journey towards Cornwall.

Tonight we are staying at a little campsite called Holly Berry in Thorndon Cross, near Okehampton.  (Thanks to Graham for the recommendation - Colin is indeed a great host).  Straight out of the gate from our field we are onto the Pegasus Way, mainly an old railway line.  A pleasant walk to stretch our legs on arrival.

Our view from our pitch is of a pretty pond with a family of Canada geese.
Another toast over our 'Cook' dinner.  (Nearest pub 9 miles away, so stayed home tonight.)
Tomorrow, Cornwall here we come!
