Saturday 18th June
Woke up to heavy mist, so set off on the last leg to St. Ives this morning. We got out of the van when we reached Polmanter to go into reception and the cold wind hit us! We remembered from last year how it could be here, but was a bit of a shock after all that recent heat. Then the rain started while we were having our lunch on our pitch..... Still, we spent the afternoon walking down into the town and watching the waves and drinking tea. Decided to leave photographing for another day.
But as the sun went down later, we were rewarded with the most magnificent sunset. My photos don't really do it justice - it was a blaze of gold and pink.
Sunday 19th June
At least it was dry this morning - we were up early and off walking down to the station in St.Ives to catch the train to Truro. What a dull view en route....
Once there we walked to the Methodist Church and met Wendy (a friend of over 50 years who recently moved from Paignton to Truro) in time for their 2nd service of the day at 11am. Afterwards she showed us around the city, including its cathedral.
Admired the matchstick model... and this diorama.
Close up of the Christmas story.
Wendy then took us to her lovely apartment (in the old tax office) with its super views over the city. (The stripes are the reflection of my jumper in the window!) One of her closest neighbours is the ShelterBox headquarters - one of the worthy charities I support.
After lunch Wendy took us to Trelissick Garden NT for a short walk and cups of tea. She often comes to this seat with a view of the River Fal with her library book (usually in sunshine).
A most enjoyable day, just a bit dampened by the lack of sunshine. The rain did hold off - but only until we got off the train in St.Ives! So a soggy walk back up the hill! See what tomorrow brings ....
